About me

Midcentury illustration and cartoon art significantly played into the development of my point of view as an illustrator. My work evokes the strong graphic qualities and geometricity from this era of design. In my illustration, which is primarily focused on character design, I explore the potential to abstract the human form while maintaining its essence through simplistic, geometric shapes. I play with the limits of abstraction, exaggerating organic forms right up until the point of discomfort. My work is created digitally through raster-based software, and uses textures that pull from traditional media to keep the human hand obvious. A slightly off-kilter feel helps keep things from seeming overly neat and computer generated. I am a first and foremost a design-minded illustrator, and thinking of things from a graphic design perspective is integral to my artistic process.
